Girls (no replies)

So I picked up this comic pretty much on a whim, as it had a glowing recommendation from Bendis on the cover.

It's called Girls, by the Luna Brothers and Volume 1 is called Conception and well, it's weird.

Set in a small Southern town in the States, a guy gets drunk and local bar, insults everyone he knows and then, when driving home, nearly runs over a smoking hot, naked girl running out of the woods.

She's scared, running and hurt and it's very late. So he does the decent thing and takes her home. Well he tries to do the decent thing, it goes a bit awry when she climbs into bed and makes hot sexy love to him. He wakes up with a hell of a hangover to find this gorgeous, naked girl in his bathroom... laying giant eggs, out of which hatch a load more, identical hot naked women who run rampage trying to beat all the other women in the town to death and shag all the men and there's this invisible wall and a giant sperm monster and OH GOD IT'S WEIRD.

Amazingly for a comic book though, it's never misogynistic. Sure, some of the characters are, but some of them aren't and where they (and you as the reader) all stand on the morality of what's happening to them in this, the sexiest of all zombie-style attacks, is the corner stone of the book.

It's also very funny for a whole number of reasons.

Basically I very highly recommend it. It's an interesting, accessible comic which is telling a gripping story and never goes nowhere anywhere near the "tights and fights" titles.

You've not read anything like it, and that's something you should correct.
